The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) and the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) have partnered with Eskom to conduct the South African Renewable Energy Grid Survey (SAREGS). This survey offers a valuable opportunity for the renewable energy industry to shape and influence grid expansion and planning. Members were requested to submit information to Eskom from March 2024 to 28 June 2024. All data collected has been sent directly to Eskom with neither SAWEA nor SAPVIA having sight of it to maintain anonymity.

This webinar is the culmination of the process to present the results of the 2024 SAREGS to the industry and public. We have seen these results play a pivotal role for Eskom in their grid planning efforts though has also been used by both industry associations in their advocacy efforts. It has also been used by government departments such as the Ministry of Electricity in the Energy Action Plan and the DMRE in its planning for the latest IRP.
